Rolling Stone and the moss-gatherers
November 18, 2004Rolling Stone has published its list of the “Top 500 rock songs”. I’ve just seen the top 50 so far. Caters to old farts like me; so in my view, it’s not totally horrible. But there are some oddities. I love the Bobster, but there ain’t no way “Like a Rolling Stone” is #1. Somewhere in the teens, maybe. And “Satisfaction” (#2) and “Respect” (#5) deserve their high rankings, but what’s “Imagine” doing at #3? And “Dancing in the Street” (#40) and “Tutti Frutti” (#43) should have both been at least top 20.
