‘Publicans decide they like leaders indicted for felonies after all

November 23, 2004

House ‘Publicans instituted a “no House leaders who are under indictment” rule in 1993 as bit of grandstanding to show up scandal-plagued House Dems. But now that it looks like that asshole Tom DeLay is about to get indicted back in Texas, they’ve reconsidered and dropped the rule. Hypocritical shitbags.

The Christian Science Monitor editorial (Apply Ethics to Ethics Rules) gets it right: “Republicans in the US House of Representatives degraded their public office last week when they reversed one of their key ethics rules…. the unfortunate signal this sends that ethics is merely a political tool, instead of a protecting bedrock.”
