What is it like to be a bat?
April 29, 2005OK, I was just teaching the classic philosophy of mind piece from Thomas Nagel, “What is it Like to Be a Bat” today, and then I see this link (via Boing Boing): Pat Fletcher, blind for 25 years, has
been experimenting with a revolutionary new technology that allows her to see through sound. Using a simple computer program that she downloaded from the Internet, called “The vOICe”, which translates visual images into soundscapes, Pat’s brain is able to translate those sounds back into images.
Cool. Check it out.
