Scientists decide Pluto’s no longer a planet. What's kind of a sad comment on me is that when I first read this, I said "Yeah!". Because that's what I was rooting for.

I luckily got an account at Writely before Google bought it and stopped issuing new accounts. But now they've started it again. Very cool online writing and collaborating word processor. Get an account and use it.

The president of my university, Kermit Hall, died suddenly this weekend in an apparent drowing incident (President of SUNY Albany Dies, Apparently Drowning; Mourners laud Hall's virtues).
He was the best college president I've been around, showing the sort of vision and leadership claimed for many and posessed by few.
