More erosion of the rule of law
September 19, 2006
Jeanine Pirro, Republican candidate for NY state attorney general (and long-lost sister of arch-villian The Joker) says that the most important public safety issue of our time is…
…civil confinement for keeping violent sexual predators behind bars after their prison sentences have ended. Not guns, terrorism, protection of the food supply, neighborhood policing, school safety, product safety, or any of a hundred other things. It’s the state’s imprisoning of people without a new offense or a new trial and after they’ve served their legally mandated sentence for all acts they have been convicted of.
As I’ve said before (No civil liberty protection for perverts): Due process, innocent until proven guilty, and protection from double jeopardy have now become options in the system of justice, to be overridden if we think the people involved are really bad. What else should we expect in the era of Bush-led erosions of civil liberties?

I’m against the death penalty.
I think pedophiles should get the death penalty.
I have kids. Anyone touches my kid and I kill them myself. No trial, no judge, no jury. I don’t care about the civil liberties of those who would harm a child. My, and every other child’s safety, is more important than some pervet being given the freedom to destroy more children.
I get about six letters a year from So. Colonie school district informing me that a level 3 offender has moved into my neighborhood. Level 3, and here is what is key for me, means they are likely to re-offend. Those of us with kids to protect can’t ignore that little fact of life.
If they are likely to re-offend, why let them out to molest more kids? To protect their civil rights? What about my kids’ civil rights? What about mine? Why do pedophiles rate higher than law abiding citizens who don’t molest children? When I have a pedophile living in my neighborhood I can not, as a responsible parent, let my child be outside alone unsupervised. The presence of a pedophile living in my neighborhood infringes on my family’s freedom. Period. Until you have kids of your own, you don’t get a say in whether or not a child molester or serial rapist gets to live next door to me.
Just an FYI Spitzer does not rate high on the support our civil liberties scale either. In NY, you can not use your credit card to make a deposit to Party Poker. Spitzer did that. Thank God!!! I’m being protected from those degenerates who play .05/.10 limit hold ‘em online in the privacy of their own homes.
I don’t support the right, or the left. In my mind they are both the same. The liberals tend to jump at any excuse to bash the right without thinking. The right just doesn’t think. Ever.
